Good news!

Just quickly wanted to let everyone know our adoption agency was able to get a response from the Cherokee tribe and so the court date will proceed as planned this Thursday at 1:30pm! It is amazing really that they got such a fast response...praise God!

Also the birth parents came to our house today to visit with Kaylee for an hour and a half and it was such a nice time.

More pictures!

They are still waiting on the paper work from the Cherokee tribe, but everyone is trying to get it. Even the judge who will be presiding over this case does not want to have to change the court date, so we got everyone working for us. We will let you know!!

A little prayer request!

first of all thank you again for your extreme out pouring of support, love and encouragement through e-mails. i wish i could respond to every one of you, but there is not time. thank you for your thoughtful responses, we cherish every one!!!
wanted to ask for some prayer, we may have a slight possible glitch: turns out kaylee is 1/16th Cherokee Indian, which means they have to acknowledge this adoption. bethany christian services attorney is trying to get a fax from the tribe for the court saying kaylee is free and clear to be adopted.
it may push back the court date, they have to have an official letter from the tribe in order to do the termination court hearing. our social worker is pretty optimistic and thinks it will be fine, but of course this is adding nervousness!! our adoption agency has been awesome and will be pursuing this to get everything in order for the court date to go as planned.
on a side note the birth parents are also thankful for a quick court date and are hoping it happens on the 26th as well.
so please stand with us in prayer,we will let you know when this is all cleared up!!

The court date has been set!

Just wanted to let everyone know the court date for the birth parents to terminate their parental rights has been set for Thursday, February 26th at 1:30pm. Less than two weeks away!!
This was amazing really, even our social worker was shocked we got a court date so quickly, normally we would have waited almost 30 days from when they filed for a court date and the papers were first filed this past Wednesday-which means we got a VERY fast court date. Thank you LORD!!
Please keep praying until that date. Pray for peace in the birth parents decision! Pray for faith for us!

What a birthday GIFT!!

Not sure how anything will ever top this birthday gift!! Jeannie, the birth mom who had chosen us went into the hospital this morning at 6:00am and had our little baby girl at 10:31am-almost TWO weeks early. The birth parents chose to name her Kaylee and we love it, and we think we will be choosing the middle name, which will be Grace...so Kaylee Grace Schampers was born weighing 6lbs and 8 ozs, 19 1/2 inches long. We will share a birthday and are pretty excited about that!! Scott and I will get to meet her tomorrow at 3:00pm in the hospital. At that time we and the birth parents will be filling out all the appropriate paper work which will get us to the next step which is bringing our little girl home on Wednesday.

Please please pray as this is a very intense time emotionally for EVERYONE involved. Please pray for our meeting tomorrow at 3:00 as we will be meeting our daughter for the first time in front of the birth parents and social workers. Please pray that God's will be done!! There is about a 30 day wait for a court date to be set where the birth parents will legally terminate their rights, until that time we will have Kaylee in our home, however the birth parents can change their minds anytime in there. The social workers both feel it is still a very solid adoption, so we are thankful for that!!

Thank you ahead of time for your prayer support, we need it!!
We will keep you posted.
